Random Act of Kindness (RAK)...

Man oh man, am I behind in blogging. So here is my first giveaway and a great way to start off the summer on the right foot! I had posted this same post earlier this year and I had to cancel it, well it is on again. Below you will find what you need to do in order to eneter this giveaway! Read on and best of luck to you all that enter.
Here is the definition of a random act of kindness...
is a purportedly selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or in some cases even an animal. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier. Either spontaneous or planned in advance, random acts of kindness are encouraged by various communities. An oft-cited example of a random act of kindness is, when paying the toll at a toll booth on a highway, to pay the toll for the vehicle behind you as well.
I have a few cake books that I don't use and would love to find a new home for. I am sure there is someone out there that can use them. I have three books in total to find new homes for. They are...
The Cake Mix Doctor
Chocolate Cake Mix Doctor
and
The Cake Mix Cookie Book
For the next three weeks I will give one book to one person. The first weeks winner gets to pick the book they want. The second week, that winner gets to pick the book they want. The third week winner gets the last book.
You may enter in each drawing even if you win. These books are in good shape, no rips or writting. They do have a few stickies on the pages. I will remove them if I can if not I will cut them to the edge of the page.
So if you want to enter in this you need to leave a comment and a way for me to contact you.
Good Luck and Enjoy!

Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies...

I finally took my baking to the next level, well at least I think so.  My son has family day every month at school and they ask we bring in a snack to share.  I was thinking about going with my sugar cookies but I figured I would try something new.  I decided to make home made cream cheese swirl brownies.  I found the recipe over at recipezaar .  I did alter the recipe some, it called for sour cream but I didn't have any so I used the next best thing I had strawberry yogurt.  The brownies also tasted and looked more like a cake brownie.  So if you are the type that likes cake brownie try these out!  I also used a different size pan than what is listed on recipe zaar.  My pan size is 18X13 and the recipe was enough for that size pan.

A Birthday Collection....

The birthday collection consists of cookies and a cake.
I had given out a few gift certificates for the holidays and someone redeemed one this past week.  I had a request for a dozen of birthday balloon cookies.   I was told they would be given out as party favors, so I wrapped the individually.  I also decided when I was making these since they were favors I would put them on sticks.   I than placed them in a boys metal bucket I found to make it more appealing to the eyes of the guest.  I stayed with the primary colors for the balloons, since the party was a for a three year old.

We than celebrated my little girl's third birthday yesterday.
We can't celebrate a birthday without cake!  I made a chocolate cake with orange flavored buttercream icing.  Dyed the icing purple for my little girl, made some pink little flowers.  I than had some extra balloon cookie pops I decorated and placed them in the center of the cake.

Coming Soon...

I finally have some time to play around with the monkey cake I will be making for Lilyannah's party next month.  I got a great tutorial from Caked Alaska .   I am sure I will be using rice krispy treats for the head instead of using cake, we don't need all that extra cake!  So for today's task my husband and I have played around with cake dummies to see what size cakes we will need, but we still aren't sure need more playing time!  I plan on making the icing I will need today so that maybe in the next few days we can play with cake.  I will also be making rice krispy treats, using chocolate rice krispies!  So check back later this week for an update as to how the monkey cake is coming!
